What kind of knife is a chamfering knife?

Chamfering cutters are versatile tools in metalworking, professionally classified as members of the milling cutter family. They excel at creating 45° bevels (commonly known as chamfers) on workpiece edges. This design eliminates sharp burrs and improves assembly precision. Unlike ordinary milling cutters, their tips are tapered, and the cutter body often features helical grooves, rotating and cutting along the workpiece edge like a ballerina.

Why are dedicated chamfering cutters needed?

  • Efficiency Advantages: Ordinary milling cutters require multiple passes to create bevels, while chamfering cutters achieve this in a single pass.
  • Precision Guarantee: The dedicated angle design ensures consistent bevels with an error of less than 0.1mm.
  • Longer Lifespan: Special coating treatment increases the wear resistance of the cutting edge by 3 times.
  • Multi-functionality: In addition to chamfering, it can also perform countersinking, deburring, and other tasks.

This tool has already transcended traditional machining fields:

  • Metal chamfering for mobile phone frames
  • Deburring of automotive gearbox gear sets
  • Edge polishing for precision aerospace parts

Even decorative edge finishing on woodworking engraving machines can be found using it. Modern chamfering tools, through nano-coating technology, can easily handle even difficult-to-machine materials such as titanium alloys.
