Solid Type
The cutter body and cutter teeth are manufactured as a single, integral unit.
Solid-Brazed Type
The cutter teeth are made from cemented carbide or other wear-resistant tool materials and are brazed onto the cutter body.
Inserted-Tooth Type
The cutter teeth are secured to the cutter body using mechanical clamping methods. These replaceable teeth may take the form of solid tool-material inserts or inserts featuring brazed tool materials. Milling cutters in which the inserts are sharpened while mounted on the cutter body are referred to as "on-body sharpened"; those in which the inserts are sharpened separately on a fixture are referred to as "off-body sharpened."
